With the new Atmos line of AiO water coolers, Cooler Master once again adds to the wide range of mid-range cooling solutions on offer, but says it wants to reduce packaging waste and offer an optimized user experience at the same time. Find out what the new cooler can do in the following review.
The Atmos series is supposed to be positioned between “Core” and “Flux”, and we have already tested water coolers from both of them:

Packaging and scope of delivery
The box is surprisingly plain and monochromatic, last Cooler Master still used quite “loud” printed packaging. The front only presents the elaborately designed top of the pump block.
Both sides then show the radiator with mounted fans in profile, and the back then reveals more information about the contents. Overall, the size of the box has also shrunk by 30%.
A look inside shows efforts to reduce the use of disposable plastic. No big bags around everything and transport protection is taken care of by multi-folded cardboard.
The scope of delivery for the respective processor sockets is put into small boxes and the matching instructions are printed on them.
There are also all kinds of accessories for lighting. Actually, even more than is actually necessary. For systems without 5V aRGB I can understand the included USB controller, but the splitter cable is actually obsolete due to the daisy chain function of the cables at the fans.
Mounting and installation
There are no surprises for the AM4 socket, once again the existing backplate of the motherboard is reused and the two plastic hooks on the front are replaced by spacers from the scope of delivery.
If you’re afraid of soaking your CPU with too much applied thermal paste, this cooler comes with a handy stencil.
You roughly smear some paste into all of the hexagonal holes, smooth everything out with a paper spatula, and then peel off the thick sticker.
