An alternative title might have been “better later than never”. By popular demand, today’s review is of the popular Liquid Freezer II complete water cooling system, in each of the two most popular sizes. There’s a lot to test in a double pack, so let’s get straight to it.
Packaging and scope of delivery
Unsurprisingly, the two boxes of the 240mm and 360mm versions are not very different, apart from the width. In classic fashion, we have a large product picture on the front, a table with specifications on the side and the back sends us to the manufacturer’s website.
Opening the lid reveals a special feature of this cooler: instead of foam, various layers of multi-layer cardboard are used here.
However, the whole thing is not completely plastic-free, as the hoses and radiator are wrapped in plastic bags.
The accessories are limited to the bare essentials and thus to the respective small parts for supported CPU sockets and thermal paste.
Assembly and installation
For my AM4 mainboard and socket, the existing backplate is used again and supplemented by spacers and frames on the front. A special feature, however, is the “offset mounting”, which allows the coldplate to rest better on newer Ryzen processors.
The upper holes are used for this purpose, but otherwise the instructions are followed. Incidentally, there is also only one cable that needs to be connected. The pump and small fan are also supplied and cannot be controlled.
Specifications
Before unpacking, here is a quick overview of the technical details. Further information can be found on the manufacturer’s product page.
