Alphacool Polar Bear Aurora 360 review – more than just a simple all-in-one compact water cooling | Review

In addition to the normal 3-pin pump connection, an RGB cable from the pump housing with a proprietary 3-pin connector and another socket, to which you can then connect further aRGB modules. Alphacool relies on the usual 5V-aRGB, despite its own plugs, so it doesn't matter if the motherboard manufacturer sells it as mystic light or aura, the principle of the 5V preci dip connectors with 5V pin, data bus and ground is always the same. All three fans can thus be cascaded and finally connected to the aRGB output of the pump.

Alphacool comes with at least one adapter from its own 3-pin to the normal Preci dips, which is completely sufficient for connecting to modern motherboards. The Alphacool ice cyclone Aurora Lux Pro is approved for approx. 2 watts extra per fan for the LED and electronics, so that with 3 fans plus pump with approx. 7 watts. This is less than a normal motherboard connection can deliver maximum and therefore fits safely for the direct connection.

If you don't have a motherboard with a suitable connection, you'll get a simple RGB controller in the accessory that can be fed over the normal SATA strand of the power supply. Then you are completely self-sufficient and do not have to do without illumination, despite old or incompatible technology. In addition, there are enough third-party providers that also offer adapter solutions from 12-volt (4-pin-preci-dip) to 5-volt aRGB.

The pump housing is made of polyamide (polyhexamethylene adipic acid amide), which is what is also known as nylon. The material is transparent (in this case) to translucent, which naturally suits the lighting inside well. However, only one (albeit strong) aRGB LED is installed. When painting the case, the stylized outlines of the polar bear as well as the window of the GTC above the pump were omitted. Those who are skilled in craftsmanship can even engrave their own logos by carefully removing the paint. should not go too deep (cracks!). Or you can completely replace the paint (mechanical, no ethanol) and then foil the whole thing.

The fans create nice effects through the light rings, but leave the rotor blades out. This is not a bad solution, because it would be a bit too colourful for most people.
