Fan control and curves
Cooling works only with a proper airflow and that’s exactly why I have now once looked at the fan curves. For this purpose, I once contrasted the (lower and usual) edge temperature and the fan speeds. In most normal games, you’ll get so high in Ultra HD that it will almost always end up being around 1850rpm, which you’ll already be able to notice ellerdings clearly. In silent mode it’s a little less, but you can hear it too.
Noise emission “Volume
If you measure the whole thing in gaming with the mentioned maximum of almost 400 watts, the 44.1 dB(A) of the Palit RTX 3080 Ti GameRock 12GB are quite audible. So really quiet is definitely different. One can see in the range around 2 KHz and below as well as above the resulting broadband patterns of air separation and turbulence. I already wrote on the first page that design and function drift apart a bit here. Here we see now also the consequences.
As an interim conclusion, we can state that Palit has created a good cooler, which, however, suffers acoustically from somewhat cost-optimized fan modules and the somewhat jagged front cover. There is a real need for optimization here.
