Ubisoft announced the latest installment of the Far Cry series at The Game Awards today. The next chapter, "Far Cry New Dawn," will be published on May 15. February 2019 will be released and will take players into a depressing, post-apocalyptic world. We know this, some people will ask themselves, and it is probably not a complete coincidence that Ubisoft starts exactly where Bethesda is terribly offside with the failed and totally restrained online interpretation "Fallout 76" shot.

The story is at least to fit once. Seventeen years after a global nuclear disaster, players are returning to a wild and beautiful, but also radically changed, Hope County, Montana. Life has risen somewhat from the initial chaos, but the survivors face a new threat – the merciless highwaymen and their leaders: Mickey and Lou. The twin sisters and their group of looters, who grew up in the lawless borderland, live only in the here and now and have come to Hope County to claim all the resources available.

To reduce this devastating threat, players must help survivors become stronger, create a makeshift arsenal of weapons, and form unexpected alliances to fight for survival in a dangerous battle.

In the base, called Prosperity, the players will prepare to face the highwaymen. It is the fortress of survivors, where players can make make makeshift weapons and vehicles, as well as train their helpers and four-legged friends – including new and familiar faces. As players roam the area, allies can expand the base for more powerful weapons and equipment. This base is also the starting point for expeditions, because for the first time in the history of Far Cry, the action does not only take place in one place.

Exciting expeditions take players to unique and memorable places in the US, including swamps, canyons, and more, where they must collect valuable resources and quickly escape. The game is developed by Ubisoft Montreal with the support of Ubisoft Shanghai, Ubisoft Kiev and Ubisoft Bucharest. It is a first-person shooter with optional co-op elements in a completely open world and thus also an independent sequel.

The game is available for PlayStation 4, the Xbox One family of devices including Xbox One X and PC, and can be pre-ordered now.
