Conclusion
Finally, a few words about the two graphics cards used here and why it’s necessary to create an article about them at all. First of all, I was surprised at what the RTX 2070 Super still has “in its egg”, because quite obviously it wipes the floor with the much younger RX 6600 in most games even today. Of course, the small RDNA2 graphics card can shine with a decent efficiency, but it only rarely comes close to the performance of the older Turing card without ever being able to outperform it.
This shows once again that mid-range cards of the last and maybe even penultimate generation still play a role and can be a real alternative to the expensive new releases for many gamers outside of the 4K raytracing world – especially in the budget segment. In addition, the new cards can often only unfold their full potential with current systems (PCIE 4.0, rBAR/SAM) due to their economy interfaces. Circumstances, which should be rather the exception in the area of the “upgrade-needy”.
In this specific case, I would definitely prefer the older RTX 2070 Super over the newer and much more frugal RX 6600, but you also have to be aware that the life of an aging graphics card can simply pass overnight and you can then quickly be left empty-handed without warranty claims. Not to mention the necessary preparation (thermal paste / pads), which should ideally be done by a “professional”.
