Must inexpensive really have been cheap and as a purchase in the end maybe even free? Not at all, if you look at the rather plain-looking Arctic P12 PWM, which manages to bring tears to the eyes of a large part of the significantly more expensive competitors. But I don’t want to anticipate the test result, even though many readers have been asking for this test for a while because they are so convinced of the product. What you can get for 5 Euros can be quite surprising, but let’s take it one step at a time. It has to be measured against the much more expensive NF-12A PWM as our quasi-reference. Well then have fun, the only question is for whom.
On the next page you’ll see how and what we test and why. Understanding the details is incredibly important in order to be able to objectively classify the results later. The differences between many models are rather in the details and THE best fan for all situations can hardly exist. There is a certain optimum in every situation and of course also good all-rounders. But they usually have their price. However, if you are planning very specifically with 60 mm radiators, for example, you may be able to save money by choosing the best model for your intended use, which may not perform so well as a case fan. And vise versa, of course. Well, and then came the Arctic P12 PWM…
The white frame is kept completely plain and also has no decoupling whatsoever. A 10 year warranty is also a nice touch. At just over 5 euros each street price, these fans are also a very cheap and also extremely tempting alternative for entry-level use, especially for use as case fans or on slim radiators. RGB is not available, but that also lowers the cost. It also certainly does not go for this price.
