As a constant in the budget segment, Sharkoon always knows how to surprise with unexpectedly good quality and excellent value for money. In this test, we want to find out whether the compact TK5m can do the same. Can you expect anything at all at a price of around 65€ despite four pre-installed ARGB fans?
The market for inexpensive cases is gigantic. This has a big advantage for PC hobbyists: Cheap cases can be found on every corner and every manufacturer tries to advertise their own product with a unique selling point. Sharkoon therefore equips the small TK5m with four ARGB fans and even adds a USB Type-C port in the front I/O.
Sharkoon provides a small teaser on their Youtube channel:
Unboxing and Hands-On
Let’s take a look at what Sharkoon has conjured out of the hat this time. The box is adorned with a product image, and I like the design in black and white.
Here I had to smile briefly. Let’s unleash the shark in us!
Stripped of all cardboard and polystyrene, the TK5m already looks very compact.
The glass panel is of decent quality with a thickness of 4mm, there is nothing to complain about.
The interior is clean and evenly painted.
There are also openings everywhere at the rear where air can enter or leave (depending on the fan configuration).
The right side panel is “bulged out” to hide the cables underneath. When it comes to cable management (installation report), you will notice that this is not necessarily the best solution.
Everything on the back of the motherboard is easy to reach, and the cut-outs are sufficiently large.
Nice detail: The power supply is “mounted” on thick foam rubber pads to prevent the transmission of vibrations.
The front is almost completely made of mesh, and the fans can draw in fresh air unhindered.
For cleaning, the cover can be pulled off with a hearty tug.
There is an additional magnetic dust filter in front of the pretty fans. If you’re afraid that the system won’t get any air with this filter, just leave it out.
The front I/O is well equipped for this price range with 2x USB 3.0 and 1x USB Type-C. The reset button is connected to the integrated RGB controller as standard, which I will talk about later.
Accessories include the usual mounting hardware, a 3.5″ slide, an instruction manual and a set of stickers.
