The Bowers & Wilkins PX7 is a circumaural wireless headset with active noise cancelling and switchable ambient noise amplification. The PX7 is listed at various retailers from 319 euros, the RRP of Bowers & Wilkins for the PX7 is still 399 euros. All this is certainly not particularly cheap, but you get an acoustic and technical treat, which in the course of a hopefully long life pays back the starting capital hour by hour with pure joy of life.
Scope of delivery
the scope of delivery includes the headphones, a hard case with zipper, a 1.2 m cable each for USB and stereo jack and the obligatory user manual – nothing more is included. However, this is sufficient and serves its purpose. The rest, including the app is done via donload or installation.
Optics and haptics
When you take out the hardcase, you already get the first positive impression, because the case is cleanly processed and a very good material has been used, which doesn’t get fluffy after a short time. Also, the zipper can be used smoothly without bitchy pulling or annoying hooking, so that fits already. After opening the box, we see very plain over ear headphones that look very classy. The ear cups are covered in dark grey fabric, while the metallic cover on the sides is a shimmering carbon colour with Bowers & Wilkins lettering in white. The ear pads are thickly padded and covered with soft, supple leather.
The headband is covered in the same fabric on the top, padded and covered in the identical leather that we already liked on the ear cups. The headband itself is made of composite fiberglass and immediately gives the impression that nothing will break easily, even with a lot of bad will.
The PX 7 is available in 3 colours. We tested the space-grey version and there are also silver and carbon versions. The look and feel are pleasant and flattering, the selected materials are convincing. The weight of 310 grams is also okay, it is anything but eein lightweight. Because the weight is relativized by a high wearing comfort – nothing presses, even after 3 hours. But more on that in a moment.
