Intel’s ARK is a two-part (public access and internal access with NDA) split list of product specifications, features and compatibility information and it sees itself not only as an overview of all relevant products but also as a kind of code name decoder. In the non-public view, to which outsiders do not have access, another, rather mysterious entry has now appeared next to all the new GPUs.
The package tech code FC-BGA16E in the new entry with a pin count of 2660 points to a discrete graphics solution, the SSPEC code with SSS04 is a bit off and not really plausible. For certain reasons, I won’t publish the entire view from Intel’s ARC here, but only the part that raises the important questions. And to better understand the mystery, of course, you need to know the nomenclature of product families. The “Item Market Description” of the new Arc family should be PHDG2xxx, something like PHDG2512 and not DG2MB like in the picture. So what does MB stand for instead of the EU number?
But there are more inconsistencies, right down to the beat. Because 4 GHz rather speaks for a CPU. The Fab Process is still plausible, but cache and core count? The TDP would be plausible for a desktop solution, but much too high for a mobile solution. So what is Intel trying to tell us with this entry? A notebook package with GPU and CPU?
