Audio/Peripherals Gaming Keyboard Practice Reviews

Long-term Test of a Razer Lycosa – Keycaps complete after 10 years, Rubberdome not | igorsLAB

The rubber coating of the palm rest looks like piano lacquer, between the keys there is the bread notration for several days and on some caps are dents, as deep as Lake Constance. Just cuddled up. After more than 10 years in the daily gaming use of a counter-strike fanatic, this may look like this. And the rest?

No, so this Razer Lycosa is no longer a beauty. But electrically and mechanically it still works really well. Even the Rubberdome mat leads the full-bodied 50 million. Clicks on the mechanical buttons a little ad absurdum, because here not something the rubber bells went to the knees, but the key caps. So it also shows that among the models sold as gaming accessories quite expensive, there are also real long-distance runners to be found. Rubber bells do not have to degenerate into flat-breasted switch knobs per se, if the manufacturer really wants it.

The LEDs have lost a lot of luminosity, but after more than 10 years of almost continuous operation, this is not a major shortcoming. I had behaved this keyboard at the time to a young person whose purpose in life is obviously far from real life and who, for certain reasons, probably won't change it himself. We are not entitled to a verdict on this, but I must also give plausible reasons for the continuous use and the hours of operation. At least the PC may have rarely been out.

Well, and WASD, this magical Bermuda quadrangle of the vanished keycap labels has also devoured much of the cap material, because especially the WAS buttons are through to the stamp at the fastening cross. If it weren't for the circumferential carrier, the top would probably have been broken long ago.

And how else to recognize the CS player? Right! The Shift button is almost through the hustle and bustle and also the space bar jumps in the eye and not the character. And yet these buttons have hardly got worse in the tactile feeling, if you compare it with the rather rarely used keys. This is so marginal that it can be completely neglected. So Rubberdome also goes into durable, even if not in extremely cheap.

The conclusion is at least not a negative and the rubber mats are often better than their reputation. And if you want to see me in my rubble cellar, you can also take the appropriate video:
