At this year’s MWC, the manufacturer Lenovo presented its latest generation of ThinkPad and ThinkBook laptops. There are some interesting design ideas about how these devices should look, but also some new features that should improve the user experience.
Lenovo’s latest ThinkBook laptop is said to have a 17.3-inch micro LED display with a brightness of 1000 nits and a completely borderless design. It should also have a high color saturation and thus be able to offer a high contrast. According to Lenovo, the transparency should make it possible to use artificial intelligence-generated content to show new ways of collaboration and efficiency through the use of an interactive pen and keyboard.
In addition, there is no need for a physical keyboard at all. Instead, a glass keyboard is to be used in which the keys are displayed. Lenovo also promises to open up new possibilities for handling data and applications and also offer the potential to develop new functions and form factors.
In addition to the ThinkBook, Lenovo is also presenting its latest ThinkPad series. This will include the ThinkPad T14/Gen 5, ThinkPad T14s/Gen 5, ThinkPad T16/Gen 3, ThinkPad X12/Gen 2 and ThinkPad 14 2-in-1/Gen 4. Intel’s Core Ultra CPUs with vPro will be used for selected models. This will provide an optimal ecosystem of AI hardware and software solutions that offer a higher level of security, energy efficiency and quality of experience.
In addition, the new ThinkPad T series will be equipped with AMD’s Ryzen 8040 “Hawk Point” & Intel Core Ultra CPUs. It offers interesting features such as double-clicking on the TrackPoint to open the TrackPoint Quick Menu and change individual settings such as camera and microphone settings. With the Lenovo App, the application offers users video enhancement tools for the camera, including a new Low Light Enhancer that can brighten and de-noise video in low light conditions.
For the optional WUXGA displays of the ThinkPad T14/Gen 4 and T14s/Gen 4, the 3M™ Optical Film solution is also available. The embedded optical film increases the brightness of the screen from 300 nits to 400 nits and consumes up to 16% less power, thereby reducing energy consumption. The new ThinkPad T14 and T16 designs get improved repairability and the new ThinkPad T14 Gen 5 will also be available with AMD Ryzen™ 8040 series processors with integrated AMD Ryzen™ AI, giving users a wider choice of high-performance CPUs.
