Soundbar and Connectivity
The nearly 1.02 meter long soundbar Klipsch RSB-8 consists of a multi-shell, matt black plastic housing, while the front is covered with black painted perforated metal. Behind them are the two high- and Midtone chassis.
Each 1.9 cm high-pitched calotte sits on the left and right outside in a 90° x 90° Tractrix horn typical of Klipsch. In addition, a 6.35 cm midrange with a composite fiber membrane is added to each channel and side. In theory, this is sufficient for a really good performance above the separation frequency of 125 Hertz to the subwoofer. All crossovers are active and already part of the DSP board, whereby there is a separate power amplifier for each frequency range.
The soundbar is adjustable and is also suitable for wall mounting. The supplied drilling template is very helpful for this, but there are no plugs and screws.

On the back, the connection sockets are angled by 90° so that no conflicts with plugged-in cables arise during wall mounting – exemplary. Haptically, the plastic is not a revelation, but except for the small piano lacquer surface at the front, everything is largely fingerprint-safe.
Inputs and connections
The small remote control allows the range selection for the inputs, the volume control or the Mute, the level adjustment for the subwoofer, three media buttons for the player functions when pairing with suitable Bluetooth devices, as well as the buttons for dialog (improved speech intelligibility), surround effect and the night mode for acoustic protection of the neighbourhood residential environment. In addition, the soundbar can also be switched on and off here.

At the front of the soundbar you can also find some buttons for operation, but here the important output or output is missing. Standby button. remote control away or defective also means that the complete soundbar is unusable. Why the Chinese ODM is to be produced without being asked, something is a bit of a logic. The small, luminous symbols for various functions and functions are well solved. Modes in the switched on state.

Subwoofer
The subwoofer is a lightweight with a little over 4 kilos, but when it sounds, it starts like a big one. Since there is no speaker opening in the front or on the sides, the subwoofer quickly emerges as a representative of the Downward-Firing principle, in which the chassis is located on the ground. The bass reflex opening was realized at the top of the back as a rectangular slit with a rounded edge.
The Klipsch-typical folding with black vinyl foil does not look bad, but could be cleaner processed in some places (see below). Visually, the fun fits anyway.
The chassis for the bass belongs in the 16 cm class, but has a decent stroke. The composite fiber membrane is open and therefore also unprotected. In any case, the four rubber feet are high enough to offer enough distance to slightly thicker carpet materials, but with real high-flower carpet we would advise against.
Subwoofer with down-fire principle
In the back, the mounting panel is inserted and screwed, which also carries the power supply jack and the amplifier and Bluetooth module on the inside. The power consumption is well over 40 watts (measured) within the expected frame and also coincides with the specifications for the technical data. The power supply can handle this easily, but over time at full load it will be after approx. 60 minutes also a little over 45°C warm.
Built-in technology and workmanship
Klipsch's ODM relies on a mixture of purchase and Klipsch labelled boards, as well as partly also on a stacked construction of several boards. The HDMI module sits separately and is connected to the motherboard via a flexible connection cable.
1-channel HDMI module
This motherboard carries on the one hand the separate mid- and high-frequency amplifier modules for both channels, including the entire DSP playmaking and the active crossovers, as well as the preamplifiers up to the stacked module for Bluetooth and Converter. The board quality is consistently neat, the soldering quality is also.
Amplifier board and Buetooth module
The small mono-amplifier of the subwoofer sits on the back of the connection panel and is also no surprise. The Bluetooth receiver sits directly on the board, the antenna is simply applied to the circuit board as a web. The range is more than nine meters, which is enough.
Amplifier board of the subwoofer
Let's go back to the MDF corpus and the folding. The Chinese workbench of Klipsch has apparently never quite had it with the edges, because exactly these problems with repelled edges and uncleanly glued foil, we already had during the test of the Klipsch R-15PM.
Cut corners
However, the fact that two corners are so visibly pressed does not speak for a suitable quality management on the Asian production side. This is already unacceptable for a product in this price category in this form, especially since the packaging did not cause any damage and it must definitely be such a packaged, slightly damaged device.
Cut corners
Despite these certain corners and edges, the RSB-8 is not a bad product. Only the finish weakens a little.
