According to current rumors, NVIDIA is allegedly already preparing the launch of the GeForce RTX 40 SUPER GPU series. These rumors also suggest that the series will only include three different graphics cards: the GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER, RTX 4070 Ti SUPER and RTX 4070 SUPER.

The information comes from @hongxing2020, a well-known leaker who has mostly predicted reliable launch dates for several GPUs in the past. He was also one of the first to report that NVIDIA might rebrand the GeForce RTX 4080 12GB graphics card. This proved to be true when the card remained unreleased and was eventually unveiled as the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti. The latest leak now refers to three upcoming GeForce RTX 40 GPUs that are supposed to be part of the renewed “SUPER” family.
Although there are no exact technical specifications yet and the launch dates of the mentioned cards have not been announced, it is expected that these cards will probably hit the market in 2024. An official announcement could possibly be made at CES 2024. However, this is not the only sign of a possible update. Another leaker called MEGAsizeGPU recently revealed that NVIDIA is preparing a more powerful version of the RTX 4080. In the process, it was pointed out that the card could carry either the “SUPER” or “Ti” branding. So, there are at least two leakers who believe in an upcoming SUPER series.

In terms of NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER GPU specs (rumored), it is believed that it will be based on the AD102 GPU core. This would mean that it will have a slightly improved core configuration compared to the RTX 4080 Non-Ti/S. The TGP (Total Graphics Power) of this new model is said to be set at 450W, but realistically it will be more in the 380-420W range. It is also expected that there will be a memory upgrade with a 320-bit interface and 20GB of VRAM.
This would be a step up from the existing RTX 4080 with a 256-bit interface and 16GB of VRAM. The RTX 4080 SUPER aims to fill the performance and specification gap between the RTX 4080 and RTX 4090. The card is expected to be priced the same as the current RTX 4080, with the non-SUPER variant possibly receiving a discount. This could also apply to the other updated cards.
It’s important to note that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER GPUs are currently just rumors. However, the hints from several leakers suggest that we might see them soon. It should also be noted that NVIDIA is creating various configurations and branding schemes for their cards before launch. Ultimately, however, only one particular design will be chosen just before launch. Even if the aforementioned naming schemes are not used, it is likely that these cards will launch at a later date, similar to previous unreleased GPUs.
