As David Hollingworth from Cyber Daily announced, the game developer Epic Games was probably hacked by the ram software group Mogilevich. Epic Games initially refused to comment, even in response to requests from other websites, and kept a rather low profile. But what had actually happened?
The young ram software group Mogilevich (Russian: Mogila the grave) has announced via a darknet leak website that it claims to have stolen over 189 GB of data from Epic Games. They had collected data such as full names, email addresses, passwords, payment information and much more. The data is available for sale until March 4, 2024, without naming a specific price. It is not known what will happen after the deadline, but presumably all the data will then be published. Epic Games has issued a statement saying that it has not been contacted by the group and that it has immediately launched an investigation and that there is no evidence to date that it has been a victim of this group. The group has also not yet provided any evidence of this.
There is zero evidence right now that the ransomware claims from Mogilevich are legitimate. Mogilevich has not contacted Epic or provided any proof of the veracity of allegations.

Last year, the game manufacturer Insomniac Games, which produces games for the Playstation, was a victim of hackers and more than 1.67 TB of data was collected and largely published. The data included personal information of current and former employees and various files from several games.
It remains to be seen what will happen next and whether there is anything to this hacking attack. But it also reminds you to change your passwords from time to time and never use the same ones everywhere.
