EK Waterblocks EK RTX 2080 Ti RGB in Review – Custom Loop Water Cooling and a Showdown at 380 Watt | igorsLAB

Test run and temperatures

I connect the graphics card directly to the chiller, increase the Power Target to the maximum 380 watts, the core clock by 200 MHz and the voltage to the adjustable maximum. Then I start Witcher 3 on maximum details at 3840 x 2160 pixels (Ultra HD). The control measurement showed approx. 379 watts over the measured 30 minutes for the graphics card alone, the water temperature was constant 20°C and the room temperature was 22°C. This means that the best conditions for later comparisons with other products are.

At a GPU temperature of 36°C, I register under the socket on the back of the board a plentiful 38°C, which is good. Depending on the positioning, the memory modules are warm between 37°C and 44°C, which is also not bad. The voltage converters will be warm to a maximum of 55°C, also good. Overall, the board remains above average cool, which can only be welcomed.

If you want, you can watch it again as a time-lapse video (10:1). It shows very clearly how well the waste heat can be dissipated and that hardly any real hotspots are created:

Summary and conclusion

EKWB has done a good job with the Vector, which you can do with approx. 150 Euro for this cooler also makes you pay properly. The backplate then increases the stake to approx. 200 Euro road price, which can be accepted, but does not necessarily have to if there are cheaper alternatives. However, due to the performances shown, I can recommend this fullcover water block in good conscience, even if you are installing or later disassembly.

The bottom line, however, is that this is already a solid product with no real weaknesses, but with an above-average performance. You get the EK Vector also as a copper block and without RGB memory candles, then you can even save something. It will be exciting to see how the other coolers perform in the same structure and under absolutely equal conditions. In any case, EKWB has already submitted. And how…
