Let’s now move on to a direct comparison with the other 2 TB SSDs in the form of the MP400 (QLC), the cheaper MP600 GS (QLC) and the somewhat equally expensive MP600 Pro XT (TLC) in the real life of a workstation. The following benchmarks show very clearly that the QLC variants lose significantly in EVERY case (also subjectively noticeable), while the MP600 Elite sorts itself nicely in the middle between the tested models. When it comes to writing, however, many programs weaken enormously, as the MP600 PRO XT’s lead is clearly visible, while the MP600 Elite almost falls to MP600-GS level. Surprisingly, the MP600 Elite is closer to the GS than to the Pro XT when it comes to writing, which is probably due to the neutered cache.

Reading is very similar, with exceptions such as NAMD, the performance boost compared to the inexpensive MP600 GS is still extreme, but more pronounced than the rather slight advantage when writing. When reading, the cache doesn’t really matter anyway and the value from Aja is confirmed once again, because theory and practice unfortunately don’t match here.

Yes, the performance is also completely sufficient for applications. And so you really have to think about whether you really feel it subjectively and whether it really increases productivity in the individual case to such an extent that the surcharge compared to an MP600 PRO GS is worth it at all or whether you shouldn’t go straight for the Pro XT if you want more and want it to be Corsair.

Summary and conclusion

Yes, and now I’m not a bit smarter than before as to where I should place the MP600 Elite for me when the MP600 Pro XT is available for the same money and you ignore cheaper competitor products (which also exist). This SSD may, and here we come back to the controller, power consumption and cooler, be a suitable offer for a PS5 or a notebook, for example, but I don’t see this SSD in a gaming PC. It does what it’s supposed to do, but for far too high a price and not even optimally. And that’s exactly why, for a long time now, I’ve only been able to get a tolerated stay permit but not a residence permit or even a settlement permit. Unfortunately, I don’t have a console that I could upgrade with it. Which actually makes this SSD obsolete for a PC.
