Well, that sounds more dramatic than it might be, although… The devil is in the test setup as usual. The MSI GeForce RTX 3090 Gaming X Trio (OC), MSI GeForce RTX 3080 Gaming X Trio (OC) and MSI GeForce RTX 3070 Gaming X Trio (OC) are tested on two different high-end systems. Of course @stock and with a maximum OC, which can be added under user conditions. Intel and AMD together with NVIDIA against the team from Glinde near Hamburg.
A current Intel Core i9 10900K overclocked to 5.2 GHz on a MSI MEG Z490 Unify is used, as well as an unspecified AMD CPU with even more performance on a MSI MEG X570 Godlike. For this purpose an NVMe-SSD, 2 normal SATA-SSDs, as well as a mechanical hard disk with 3 TB and a sound card are operated. RGB and Gedöns included. Add mouse and keyboard, and the test system is ready. The purpose of today’s all-day exercise will be to properly explore the maximum configuration for each of the power supplies that can still operate stably. That’s why it can be used with and without overclocking. Who needs which power supply for which graphics card? This is exactly what we want to answer today.
NVIDIA will be competing against the StraightPower Gold Series 650W, 750W, 850W and 1000W power supplies, the StraightPower Platinum Series 650W, 750W, 850W and 1000W power supplies, a PurePower11-CM-700W, a S9-700W and a SU9-700W. When did the OPP or OCP switch off, or maybe the RRP or motherboard? Everything is logged and if there is a shutdown, I will also measure all transients in the microsecond range to find the reason.
Tense? Then the soon to be released test report will surely interest you! Therefore, I will leave the forum and the main page for the most part today, because there will be a delivery of fresh PSU meat for testing. We need to eat this first. 🙂
