Before I focus on the new flagship models with OLED panels in 2024, let’s take a look at one of the cheapest entry-level gaming or home office/second monitors that you can currently buy. The ASUS VA24ECE comes with a 24-inch 1920 x 1080p Full HD IPS panel and a maximum refresh rate of 75 Hz. I can’t tell you which manufacturer the panel comes from. Doesn’t really matter in the end.
There’s not much to say about the packaging either. ASUS takes a rather thin and economical approach here. The monitor made it to my home undamaged – that’s a good thing! It remains to be seen whether the monitor will survive the onward shipment to Tim Kutzner. The ASUS VA24ECE was not provided by ASUS, but was bought as normal. Tim wanted something cheap and I thought we’d test the economy model right away.
The IPS panel comes with a color depth of 8 bit (6 bit FRC), AMD FreeSync (48 Hz to 75 Hz VRR) – without LFC. I assume RGB for the sub-pixel layout, as I couldn’t detect any text rendering problems. ASUS specifies a pixel response time of 5 ms, which I think is realistic. You can find the rest of the technical data here: Click!
You can also scroll through the PDF. The data comes from the ASUS homepage.
