ASRock has quietly released a new BIOS firmware update with AMD AGESA 1.1.0.0 for its X670E motherboards. This suggests that formal availability is likely to follow soon. The ASRock Taichi X670E motherboards will be the first to receive support for the new firmware. The AMD AGESA 1.1.0.0 UEFI firmware is an extension of the existing AGESA 1.0.7.0, 1.0.8.0 & 1.0.9.0 patches, which are designed to address thermal limits and optimize memory support. Another important feature of these UEFI releases is the initial support for the upcoming AMD Ryzen 7000G Phoenix APUs, which are expected to be released soon.
The information states that the recent AGESA 1.0.8.0 and 1.0.9.0 updates provide basic and initial support for the Ryzen 7000G APUs, but still needed a lot of work. One motherboard manufacturer spoken to described UEFI versions 1.0.8.0 and 1.0.9.0 as “useless” in terms of Ryzen 7000G support and general AM5 stability. However, a new version now appears to be available in the form of AGESA 1.1.0.0.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to make concrete statements regarding specific optimizations, bug fixes or the general stability of the AM5 platform. Nevertheless, the UEFI for the ASRock X670E Taichi and X670E Taichi Carrara motherboards is available. It was released today and is 2MB larger or 20% heavier than the previous AMD AGESA 1.0.0.7c that was released in September. This indicates that additional programming work has gone into the new firmware. One of the main components of the new AGESA versions is support for the upcoming Ryzen 7000G APUs.
