GPUs Practice Reviews Watercooling

Aqua Computer kryographics NEXT review – perfect tailored suit for the GeForce RTX 2080 Ti | igorsLAB

What lasts for a long time must probably just be good. After a long wait, the time has finally come and the Aqua Computer kryographics NEXT 2080 Ti, announced at the end of 2018, completed my test run at the weekend and passed with flying colours. Without wanting to spoil: the patience was really worth it! Even if a few trivialities still signal a need for clarification - the cooler cools as if there is no tomorrow and fits like a one...

Test run and temperatures

I reconnect the graphics card directly to the chiller, increase the power target to the maximum 380 watts, the core clock by 200 MHz and the voltage to the adjustable maximum. Then I start Witcher 3 on maximum details at 3840 x 2160 pixels (Ultra HD).

The control measurement showed approx. 378 to 379 watts over the measured 30 minutes for the graphics card alone, the water temperature was as always constant 20°C and the room temperature was 22°C. This gives us the best conditions for later comparisons with other products.

At a GPU temperature of an average of 34 to 35°C, I register under the socket on the back of the board approx. 35 to 36°C, which is very good and better than the previously tested coolers. Depending on the positioning, the memory modules are only warm between 32°C and 33°C, which means the lonely top position. Thermal paste and precision win over thermal guide pads. The voltage converters are warm to a maximum of 43°C, which is also perfect.

If you want, you can watch the whole thing again as a time-lapse video (x10). It shows very clearly how well the waste heat can be dissipated and that hardly any real hotspots are created:

Summary and conclusion

The king is dead, long live the king! The Aqua Computer kryographics NEXT 2080 Ti stands out nonchalantly all coolers tested so far in terms of cooling performance. The manufacturing and/or Quality of workmanship is extremely high and beyond any doubt. You can start with something and also make sure that the equivalent of the entry-level price of just under 165 euros will be reasonably high. Will this be topping again in terms of performance?

A small downside is the exclusive compatibility with RGBpx, which then forces the user to certain motherboards and peripheral products that he might not have bought otherwise. That is a bit of a pity, but perhaps it can also be changed in the future. Or you put your hand up, anyway. The very lonely one gram of thermal paste in the accessories is also such a small lapsus, which could be compensated by a co-order of at least 3 grams of an adequate paste.

The Aqua Computer kryographics NEXT 2080 Ti replaces the Heatkiller IV from Watercool as the previous test winner and can once again perform quite well in the cooling performance. But that doesn't mean that the other coolers would have become completely unusable overnight. Far from it.

But it is yet another visible increase, because the better is always the worst enemy of the good. With this truism, I am now letting you into the new week. And if you want a backplate: 15 Euros are due again. But what's the point?
