The latest version of CPU-Z now supports the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX CPUs that will be part of the upcoming Storm Peak platform. This offers an early look at the new CPU generation that is expected to dominate the workstation segment. CPU-Z and similar applications are always a good way to learn about CPU series before they are released, as they often provide preliminary support. For example, the latest version of CPU-Z confirms the core count of the new CPUs, which ranges from 16 to 96 cores.
CPUZ 2.08 Improved support for:
- Intel Meteor Lake.
- Intel Core i5 14400F, 14400T, 14400, 14500 and 14500T.
- Intel Core i3 14100F, 14100T and 14100.
- Intel 300 and 300T processors (RPL, 2c, 65/35W).
- AMD Threadripper PRO 7995WX (STP, 96c), 7985WX (STP, 64c), 7975WX (STP, 32c), 7955WX (STP, 16c) and 7945WX (STP).
- Preliminary support for AMD EPYC Bergamo.
The info above backs up that AMD will launch five different models of Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7000WX CPUs with up to 96 cores. The CPUs are based on AMD’s new Zen 4 architecture and offer a significantly higher number of cores than the previous models. The flagship model will even offer up to 96 cores and 192 threads. AMD plans to migrate its Threadripper lineup to the new TRX50 platform. This platform is said to offer a significant performance boost as it supports PCIe Gen 5.0 and DDR5 memory. The series will be divided into two families: one with support for 8-channel DDR5 memory and one with support for 4-channel DDR5 memory. The former family will also offer more PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes.
AMD’s new Ryzen Threadripper 7000 “Storm Peak” CPUs are expected to hit the market in the next few months. An exact date has not yet been announced, but CPU-Z listings suggest that the release is imminent.
