The 12-core Ryzen 9 7900X3D is one of the three planned Zen4 desktop CPUs with integrated 3D V-cache. The processors each have an additional memory chip with 64 MB of extra cache, which should provide a noticeable boost during certain workloads, including games.
The processor was just found in the Ashes of the Singularity benchmark database, where it was tested with a GeForce RTX 4090 GPU in the Crazy 1080p preset. This configuration achieved 8900, 9000 and 9100 points in each successive run. Unfortunately, AotS is an extremely unreliable benchmark, especially if we rely only on the data from the database itself. That being said, it wouldn’t make much sense to compare this data to existing results (although there are a few for 7900X and 7950X) as they are all over the place.
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D offers 12 cores and 24 threads. The processor clock is up to 5.6 GHz, which is just as high as in the 7900X variants. Due to 3D V-Cache, the full cache size will be 140 MB, compared to only 76 MB on the X SKU. Also, this processor will cost $50 more than the 7900X at launch. AMD Ryzen 9 7900X3D and 7950X3D CPUs will launch on Feb. 28, with an 8-core Ryzen 7 7800X3D model coming 5 weeks later. It is very likely that the AotS results are either from one of the testers or from one of the board partners who should be testing their platforms at this moment. This means that we will see many more leaks in the coming days.
