Just a while ago, we reported on the listing of AMD Ryzen 7 8700F and Ryzen 5 8400F CPUs at Canadian and European retailers. Now the company is officially launching the two CPUs, including a price.
What to expect from the new APUs? The AMD Ryzen 7 8700F APU is based on an 8-core and 16-thread configuration with the still current Zen 4 architecture. The base clock is 4.1 GHz and can increase to a boost clock of 5.0 GHz. The L2 cache is 8 MB and the L3 cache is 16 MB. The total cache is therefore 24 MB and has a TDP of 65W. AMD’s Ryzen AI technology is also on board. A slightly weaker configuration is expected for the AMD Ryzen 5 8400. This comes to the customer with 6 cores and 12 threads. The base clock is 4.2 GHz, which can be boosted to 4.7 GHz. The L2 cache is also 6 MB in size, while the L3 cache contains 16 MB. This gives us a total cache of 22 MB. As with the 8700, the TDP remains at 65W.
AMD is aiming precisely at Intel’s i5 lineup. The two CPUs are said to be a significant improvement on the i5 14400F from Intel. This should be proven by various games. With the 8700F, there should be an increase of up to 24%. There should also be a significant improvement in benchmarking. AMD wants to set an example against its competitor Intel to show that it is definitely capable of competing with Intel.
But let’s get to the price, because you want to know how much you have to spend on it. The Ryzen 7 8700F will cost €299, while the Ryzen 5 8400F has a price tag of €199. Both new CPUs are now available in stores and can be purchased.
