The benchmark run and the first results
Those who are familiar with my articles on DLSS and FSR know what’s coming next. Right, a short video on the settings in the game and one on how and where I did my usual 3 times running back and forth. The scene is pretty much at the beginning of the game. There will be more scenes from the game in a follow up article when I look at the implementation of DXR and the performance with DLSS in more detail. Get ahead in the game first!
Here are the settings I used:
I had DXR on Ultra and the Transparent Raytracing reflections were also enabled. For the time being, I have only tried the performance support via DLSS with the quality level. If you look closely, you will also have spotted the DLSS-sharpening, which is already implemented by NVIDIA in many games, in the display settings. That was clear that the answer to FSR-sharpening would not take long!
Here’s my benchmark run:
There, now that’s cleared up. Let’s see what’s possible with the RTX 3080 in 1440p.
That’s easily enough for a game like this! Even without DLSS, you can apparently enjoy the game with DXR and more than 60 FPS. At least in 1440p, in UHD that will probably nix without DLSS! What else do the detail slides say?
Everything is in the green, well that suits NVIDIA. Too bad FSR is not available here. But don’t worry, I’m also testing with the RX 6700 XT, it’ll show the RTX 3060 Ti who’s the FPS boss here, at least natively in 1440p and 1080p. Or maybe not, wait and see!
