The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER GPUs are expected to use an extremely fast memory solution with pin speeds of 23 Gbps, as new specifications have been published that indicate exactly that. You can read the rest here, including the RTX 4090 Super, which will unfortunately remain a pipe dream for the time being.
Last month, almost all the data on the specifications was already covered (i.e. leaked). The confirmation is also supported by a retail listing of the RTX 4080 SUPER, which shows an effective transfer rate of 23 Gbps for the graphics card. Below are the full specifications of the three SUPER variants.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER specifications and performance
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER is expected to use the AD103-400 GPU (PG139 SKU 355) with a full 10,240 cores, 320 TMUs, 112 ROPs and 64 MB L2 cache. The GPU will run at a slightly higher clock speed of 2295 MHz base and 2550 MHz boost compared to the RTX 4080 non-SUPER variant with 2205 MHz base and 2505 MHz boost. The chip will use a 256-bit bus interface, indicating a 16 GB GDDR6X memory, but utilizing faster 23 Gbps modules, allowing for an effective bandwidth of up to 736 GB/s, an approximately 3% increase over the non-SUPER variant. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER will have the same TGP as the RTX 4080 Non-SUPER at 320W.
The graphics card is expected to be 3 to 5% faster than the RTX 4080 Non-SUPER, which is not a huge improvement, but factory overclocked models are expected to offer nearly 10% performance gains. NVIDIA has yet to commit to pricing for the SUPER series, but this slight performance boost should help make the card faster than the Radeon RX 7900 XTX. If it’s available at a price of around 900 to 1000 EURO, that would be very competitive and a clear statement of intent.

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER specifications
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER will be equipped with a selection of AD103-275 / AD102-175 GPU SKUs (PG141 SKU 323) with a total of 8,448 cores and 48 MB L2 cache. The graphics card will also have 16 GB of GDDR6 memory, which is a 4 GB VRAM upgrade compared to the RTX 4070 Ti Non-SUPER, and will support a 256-bit bus interface. The graphics card will have a TGP of 285 watts, which corresponds to the value of the non-SUPER variant.

On paper, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER 16 GB GPU offers an average performance increase of 15% over the non-SUPER variant and is expected to compete well with the Radeon RX 7900 XT, possibly even at a lower price.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER specifications
The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER is expected to be available in the AD104-350 or AD103-175 SKU (PG141 SKU 335) configurations with a total of 7,168 cores. The GPU will have 48 MB L2 cache and is expected to be equipped with 12 GB GDDR6X memory via the same 192-bit bus interface. Compared to the existing 4070, the TGP of the RTX 4070 SUPER will be 20 W higher and will then be 220 W.

The performance of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER is expected to be around 14% faster than the RTX 4070 Non-SUPER. The graphics card will also feature the new CEM 5.1 Gen5 power connector. The existing RTX 4070 graphics cards come with either an 8-pin connector or a 12-pin power connector (supplied with adapter).
In terms of performance, expect something similar to the following from NVIDIA’s RTX 40 SUPER GPUs (performance based on reference specifications):
- RTX 4080 SUPER vs RTX 4080: 3-5% Faster On Average
- RTX 4070 Ti SUPER vs RTX 4070 Ti : 15% Faster On Average
- RTX 4070 SUPER vs RTX4070 : 14% Faster On Average
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 SUPER – What we know (or don’t know) so far
There were indeed plans for a GeForce RTX 4090 SUPER, but they were scrapped due to recent sanctions restricting the release of GPUs above 4800 TOPs in China and other regions. There are currently no plans for an RTX 4090 SUPER or Ti GPU, but this could change if the restrictions are eased next year (which seems unlikely at the moment). The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40 SUPER GPU family will be unveiled soon at CES 2024 and the first launch is scheduled for January 17 for the 4070 Ti SUPER, January 24 for the 4070 Ti SUPER and January 31 for the 4080 SUPER. In addition to these three cards, NVIDIA will also launch its RTX 4090 D in China and the RTX 3050 6 GB GPU in January.
