Things are going back and forth when it comes to the Radeon 7900. It was only recently announced that Acer is launching the Predator BiFrost Radeon RX 7900 GRE OC on the market. Now Saphhire is also launching a new version, which is sensibly packaged in the box as the “PURE AMD Radeon RX 7900 GRE OC”. This is a completely white graphics card and it has a lot to offer. The focus of the card is to be a high-end graphics card with a focus on 4K resolution and high-quality e-sports. It will be available in China for the first time and is set to outshine even NVIDIA cards.
But you can’t take the China only thing too seriously, because Igor has already got the map directly from Hong Kong and has it in his lab, and he will probably use the coming holidays to take a closer look at it. And if everyone asks nicely, he could also be tempted by a community raffle. Because while I was writing the news, Igor briefly informed me about the availability for his test and provided me with two of his own pictures. And so today we have both the press release from Sapphire and a teaser from Igor.
According to 3D benchmarks, it offers better performance in the synthetic 3DMark than the RTX 4070 12G and is said to be cheaper in price. The card is said to cost around 4,879 yuan in Chinese retailers, which corresponds to 623 euros. The RTX 4070 12GB has an RRP of 659 euros, but street prices are a completely different story. But: Color costs, even innocent white.
The graphics card is based on AMD’s RDNA3 architecture and has a memory capacity of 16 GB GDDR6. The GPU has a number of 5120 stream processors, a base clock of 1972 MHz and a boost up to 2333 MHz, which can also be achieved. It also has a memory bus width of 256 bits and a memory rate of 18 Gbit/s. The backplane is made entirely of metal and the cooler offers sufficient cooling potential with 5 nickel-plated heatpipes and plenty of cooling fins. The card is equipped with three flying-wing axial fans, which are designed to ensure a higher air pressure and a larger air volume. This should give the card a longer service life and also generate less noise during use. With Igor, it should already be sweating a lot…
We are curious to see whether the card will really be available worldwide. So far, this has not been officially confirmed and currently only refers to China. But we can definitely expect this graphics card to be launched on the international market sooner or later. And perhaps a copy could make it into the community after all…
