Sabrent Rocket X5 PCIe Gen5 SSD storage achieves 12398 MB/s sequential read speed

When the first SSDs with PCIe Gen5 interface with 10 GB/s read speeds came onto the market, one could even imagine that this speed could be even higher at some point. In fact, Sabrent is already announcing even faster storage. The new storage medium is still in development, so it shouldn't be expected to hit stores anytime soon, but the company has already done some internal testing and expects to offer this solid-state storage as soon as it's ready.

Their Rocket X5 SSD with NVMe M.2 interface achieves 12398 MB/s read and 11845 MB/s sequential write speeds (according to CristalDiskMark). This is even faster than AORUS, Inland or SSTC memory, which were all limited to 10 GB/s speeds. The Rocket X5 would then have a close battle against TeamGroup's Cardea Z540 memory, which is also advertised with 12 GB/s. Sabrent revealed that they expect to surpass those speeds at some point. The company writes that it wants to improve and increase performance as much as possible. TweakTown notes that the company's track record in developing high-performance SSDs proves that this should be well within reach.
