The next generation of NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards is already in the starting blocks and according to rumors, the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 GPUs will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2024. The new GPUs are based on the Blackwell architecture, which combines Nvidia’s latest innovations in graphics performance and energy efficiency. The Blackwell GPUs are expected to offer a significant leap in performance over the current Ada-Lovelace generation, which is installed in the RTX 40 cards.
The RTX 5090 is said to be equipped with the GB202 chip, which has a 512-bit memory interface and up to 32 GB of GDDR7 memory. The RTX 5080, on the other hand, probably uses the GB203 chip with a 384-bit memory interface and up to 24 GB GDDR7 memory. In addition to the two flagships RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, other models in the Blackwell series are also planned, including the RTX 5070, RTX 5060 and RTX 5050. These cards will be equipped with less powerful chips and lower memory capacity, but will still offer good performance for gamers with different budgets.
- GB202 – 512-bit / 28 Gbps / 32 GB (Max Memory) / 1792 GB/s (Max Bandwidth)
- GB202 – 384-bit / 28 Gbps / 24 GB (Max Memory) / 1344 GB/s (Max Bandwidth)
- GB203 – 256-bit / 28 Gbps / 16 GB (Max Memory) / 896.0 GB/s (Max Bandwidth)
- GB205 – 192-bit / 28 Gbps / 12 GB (Max Memory) / 672.0 GB/s (Max Bandwidth)
- GB206 – 128-bit / 28 Gbps / 8 GB (Max Memory) / 448.0 GB/s (Max Bandwidth)
- GB207 – 128-bit / 28 Gbps / 8 GB (Max Memory) / 448.0 GB/s (Max Bandwidth)
As already mentioned, the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 will be launched in the fourth quarter of 2024. The prices are not yet officially known, but it is expected that the cards will be more expensive than the current RTX 40 models. The next generation of NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards also promises a significant increase in performance and new features for gamers. The Blackwell architecture has the potential to change the graphics landscape once again and set new standards in terms of performance and efficiency.
Further points:
- The new GPUs are expected to support PCIe 5.0 and DDR7 memory.
- There will also be a new generation of RTX AI accelerators based on the Blackwell architecture.
- Prices for the new GPUs could be higher than expected due to the global chip shortage and rising inflation.
The rumors and speculations about the next generation of NVIDIA GeForce RTX graphics cards are promising. The Blackwell architecture has the potential to take graphics performance to a new level once again. Gamers and enthusiasts can look forward to the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, which are set to be released in the fourth quarter of 2024.
