According to various media, including our colleagues at Computerbase, Intel’s next generation of Arc graphics cards, which are based on the Battlemage “Xe2” architecture, are about to be launched on the market. According to a report by Computerbase, Intel is planning to launch the new GPUs at the end of 2024, shortly before Black Friday on November 29.
So far, two Battlemage series SKUs have been confirmed: the BMG-10 and the BMG-21. The BMG-10 is the high-end SKU, while the BMG-21 is the mid-range SKU. Both chips will be positioned in the Xe2 HPG series, which includes Intel’s discrete GPUs.
Improvements in all areas:
The Battlemage “Xe2” GPUs promise significant improvements over the current Arc generation. The expected innovations include:
- Next-gen memory subsystem and compression: Higher memory bandwidth and efficiency
- Improved ray tracing: More realistic lighting and shadow effects
- Microarchitecture improvements: Increased overall performance
- Latest ML-based rendering technology: Improved image quality and performance
- Latest DeepLink capabilities: Seamless integration with other Intel technologies
- Performance/enthusiast gaming focus: Higher frame rates and resolutions for gamers
In addition to the Battlemage Xe2 gaming GPUs, Intel could also introduce its XeSS frame generation technology. XeSS uses frame extrapolation to increase the frame rate, as opposed to frame interpolation used by NVIDIA’s DLSS and AMD’s FSR. In recent weeks, Intel Battlemage Xe2 GPUs have appeared in benchmark databases and ES variants have been spotted in shipping manifests. This indicates that Intel is preparing for the launch in the second half of 2024.
A first glimpse of the Battlemage GPUs can already be seen at Computex 2024, which will take place in Taipei from May 28 to 30, 2024. The Intel Arc Battlemage “Xe2” GPUs could really shake up the graphics card market. With their numerous improvements and new functions, they could represent serious competition for the established providers NVIDIA and AMD. The Intel Arc Battlemage “Xe2” GPUs are one of the most exciting innovations in the graphics card sector. With their numerous improvements and new functions, they have the potential to really shake up the market. It will be interesting to see how the new GPUs compare to the competition.
