Graphics cards in blower design are not necessarily the standard on the market, certainly not for gamers. Manufacturers were quite fond of using this efficient method of cooling a few years ago as an efficient way to not only keep the graphics card cool while gaming, but also to be able to transport the waste heat out of the case as easily as possible. Later, the design was replaced by the now common axial fans, which offer better cooling potential with less noise, but left other construction sites in the case.
Most AIBs later switched to launching their graphics cards with traditional fan coolers with trendy names, such as Gigabyte’s “Turbo” models. These models were intended for niche users who wanted to save space and install multiple cards in their system. Since graphics cards today require a better cooling solution due to their performance and the high temperatures they generate, it’s unusual to even find an older design like this. Nevertheless, a specimen has now been found in Asia that uses the Gigabyte PCB.
MEGAsizeGPU was the first to spot the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Blower graphics card and provided pictures and a spec sheet with many more details.

Some reference graphics cards in the so-called Blower style have been used in research and workstations, among other things, as a cost-effective replacement for the more cost-intensive RTX Quadro graphics cards. It wasn’t until NVIDIA found that enterprises and other organizations were replacing its more expensive offerings with blower-style consumer graphics cards with the same silicon and GPU architecture that the company stopped producing them.
NVIDIA also changed the functionality of newer graphics cards and then required commercial users to pay certain premium prices for faster and more advanced technology. The mystery card spotted by MEGAsizeGPU has the identical design as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 consumer graphics card and features a dual-slot fan cooling solution. The GPU’s design is most likely based on the GeForce RTX 4090 WindForce graphics card, as the VideoCardz website writes. The images show that it offers the 16-pin power connector found on many RTX 4090 GPUs, and the specifications let us know the intended performance of this unknown graphics card.

The spec sheet shows that the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU has 16,384 cores with 512 tensor cores and 128 ray tracing (RT) cores. The core clock is 2520 MHz and with 24 GB of GDDR6X memory. The memory interface is 384 bits and offers a maximum resolution of 7680 x 4320. A similar NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU was spotted some time ago, which also featured a similar 2-slot cooler in a blower design. The card had a GPU temperature of 78 °C with hotspot temperatures around 80 °C, while memory temperatures were around 98 °C with the fans running at 5200 rpm. Such temperatures are to be expected as gaming models require triple or even quad heatsinks with triple fan coolers, but that’s not the case here.

It is possible that this card is not manufactured by Gigabyte, but the board manufactured by the company is used. Some companies remove any connection to the parts they “borrow” to develop their own designs for sale. Because of this, graphics cards are found online and sold by unknown companies that use obvious designs from more well-known manufacturers, like Gigabyte.
