The first card in today’s small roundup is the MSI RTX 4070 Ventus 12 GB. For today’s launch day of the MSRP cards, we can of course only show the cards that also meet NVIDIA’s specifications and are offered at the MSRP of 659 Euros. Since the performance in games and applications is the same for all these 200 watt cards, you can of course skip this part for now. The real differences are in the technical details of the implementation, especially the circuit board and cooler.
Of course, this drives the effort up, so I will catch up on these things in detail in a later individual test. Today we first have the technical specifications, many pictures and a very first assessment. The rest is then worked through continuously and conscientiously over the following period.
Of course, I also have a nice picture gallery for you and browsing through it could well be appetizing. Or not, depending on your wallet….
First of all, there is no surprise in the technical specifications:
The power limit is also a done deal and can no longer be changed. 200 watts are set by default, more is not possible:
The first hands-on shows that MSI has made the dreaded red pencil. I noticed a few points on the PCB as well as the cooler that could have been done better. At least the card is quieter than most of the other MSRP cards, which isn’t even bad in itself. But we really have to talk about the cooler again, because I noticed a few things that I have to write about in more detail.
To reassure you, however, I can already assure you that nothing will burn down or even explode. Of course, MSI is far, far away from that. But as a technician, you have a feeling for certain weak points that could easily have been avoided. But more about that in the near future. Today, the pictures will have to do for now.
