Lenovo presents its new ThinkPad P1 Gen 7 with LPCAMM2 memory

In addition to its new P16v i Gen 2, P16s i Gen 3 and P14s i Gen 5 models, Lenovo has also introduced the ThinkPad P1 Gen 7, which is also the first to feature LPCAMM2 memory. But very slowly. First of all, what’s inside this new model from Lenovo?

You can expect a 16-inch display with a 16:10 aspect ratio, narrow bezels for a screen-to-body ratio of 91.7% and the option to configure an OLED touchscreen. The device has features such as low blue light displays, Dolby Vision and color calibration for sharp, vivid images. An Intel Core Ultra processor up to Core Ultra 9 185H is included. An integrated Intel Arc, an NVIDIA RTX 1000/2000/3000 GPU of the Ada generation or the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060/4070 GPU can be selected as a graphics option. There are 2 Thunderbolt 4 ports, 1 x USB-C (10 Gbit/s) and 1 x USB-A (5 Gbit/s) port. There is also an SD Express 7.0 card reader, an HDMI 2.1 output and an audio socket. It also supports up to Wi-fi 7.

Let’s move on to the highlight of this model. The working memory is based on Micron’s new LPCAMM2 memory with 7467 MT/s. This is the very first memory for Lenovo’s notebooks. Only one module is used, which can offer up to 64 GB of memory. For Roger Chandler, Vice President and General Manager, Enthusiast PC and Workstation Segment, Intel, this is a significant step forward due to the use of Intel’s Intel Core Ultra processors.

“Lenovo’s latest ThinkPad P series mobile workstations are taking a significant step forward by featuring cutting-edge Intel Core Ultra processors equipped with a dedicated neural processing engine. Designed to enhance AI PC capabilities on laptops, this technology also improves performance, power efficiency and enables superior collaboration experiences, allowing users to be creative for longer periods without the need for constant charging.”
