In the practical test, we want to find out how the North XL can be built and it was actually already foreseeable, as the little brother had already left a lasting impression in this discipline. Fortunately, an extremely positive one. The following hardware should be installed:
I started again today with the power supply unit. In the North XL, as with its little brother, it cannot simply be pushed in from the side, you have to remove the mounting frame to install the power supply unit.
Now the mainboard was installed. A piece of cake thanks to the centering spacer! As always, the CPU, RAM and the HP SSD known from the last case test were already pre-assembled.
The AIO was prepared outside the case. In this case, it was only necessary to mount the fans and replace the bracket for the CPU socket; the North does not have a mounting frame for the AIO.
But you don’t need one, because the area in the lid is very easily accessible and it is even labeled which slotted holes are intended for the corresponding 120/140/180mm fans. Stop, screw tight, done.
Installing the cables was also done quickly. The cable outlets are all in the right places and there are no covers or panels in the way.
The Fractal Case can’t quite keep up with the cable management systems from Corsair or BeQuiet!, but there is plenty of space and lashing options to keep everything neatly organized even without cable ducts.
Finally, we put the 32cm long Sapphire graphics card in to show that even larger graphics cards could easily fit into the North XL and “breathe”.
Close the lid..
And test run!
