It looks like AMD is going to launch a new AM4 CPU. Interesting move for this older socket, but a good news for upgraders. According to reports, AMD is planning to release the Ryzen 5 5600X3D. This information came to light through leaks published by chi11eddog. With the launch of the new AMD Ryzen 7000 series, this would be an exciting opportunity for AM4 motherboard owners to get an affordable upgrade that could offer impressive gaming performance.
According to the leaked specifications, the new AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D has 6 cores and 12 threads. Its base and boost clock speeds are 3.3 and 4.4 GHz, respectively. It owes its impressive performance especially to AMD 3D V-Cache Stacking, which has proven to be extremely effective in improving the performance of CPU-intensive games. Although the basic specifications are rather modest, the 96 MB L3 cache promises a considerable performance boost compared to the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X. As a result, the processor could even keep up with the still popular AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, whose price recently dropped to around 275Euro.
Until we receive an official announcement from AMD that the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X3D will be released in the near future, we can only speculate as far as pricing is concerned. However, one should note that the prices for the 5800X3D have dropped significantly, so it is not impossible that the price could be below 185 Euros – an extremely attractive offer for cost-sensitive PC gamers. Moreover, the processor is based on the AM4 socket, which means that there are also cheaper options for motherboards and it is compatible with cheaper DDR4 memory modules that still offer high speed. However, this information is not officially confirmed yet, so stay tuned for more updates.
