Window Story and Reminder: The Most Important Windows Generations and What They Looked Like | Photo gallery

Let's start our little window story in 1985, the year of release of the first version of Windows. Of course, our picture series does not claim to be complete, but we are of course happy to be able to show pictures from the absolute beginning times.

Logo? Logo! Windows from the first hour. And fitting for a lot of mice: the first Microsoft mouse from 1985:

Our thanks also go to Dirk Makowski, who certainly calls one of the most extensive Windows collections in Germany his own and has kindly supported us with original screenshots and pictures.

And in 1986 there was also a first small update. Klitzeklein. And it still fit everything on a big, slow floppy disk.

One, mind you, and the substructure was still DOS as an operating system and Windows just the graphical essay.

And yes, there was even a handBOOK.
