NVIDIA Ada AD107/AD106 GPUs showed, much smaller than the Ampere predecessors

MLID has obtained two photos of said new GPUs, those of the AD106 and AD107 for mobile devices to be exact. These will launch as the RTX 4070 and RTX 4060/4050 series, respectively, by the end of this month. Undoubtedly, these are small processors, even smaller than those of the last generation. The GA106 measures 276 mm² and is replaced by a 190 mm² processor (45% less die size), while the GA107 is upgraded to the AD107 GPU measuring 160 mm², which is a 25% smaller GPU.

What hasn’t been confirmed yet is the number of transistors for each GPU. However, considering the transistor density of the TSMC 4N process used by all five Ada GPUs, there should be between 19 and 22 billion transistors. The AD106 GPU is said to offer up to 4608 CUDA cores and support for up to a 128-bit wide memory bus. The same memory configuration will be available for the AD107 processor and both will be limited to the PCIe Gen 4.0 x8 interface. The smaller GPU is said to offer up to 3072 CUDA cores in its full implementation. Such configurations will be available with GeForce RTX 4070 and RTX 4060 laptop GPUs.
