It has only recently become known that Zotac is launching a gaming handheld, the Zotac Zone. Now VideoCardz is revealing the first technical specifications of this product so that customers can take a first look at it.
An APU from AMD will be used. More precisely, it is the AMD Ryzen 7 8840U APU. This is equipped with the Zen 4 architecture and has a base frequency of 3.1 GHz, which can be boosted up to 5.1 GHz. The APU has an 8-core and 12-thread configuration. The standard TDP is 28W. The processor is accompanied by AMD’s integrated Radeon 780M G GPU. The TDP here is 15 watts, but up to 28 watts can also be teased out.
The RAM is said to be 16 GB LPDDR5X. In terms of memory, it should not be too large, but should be able to accommodate a few games. Accordingly, 512 GB M.2 PCIe x4 SSD (2280) is included with the handheld from Zotac. However, it can also be expanded with a MiroSD card. There is also initial information on the display of the Zotac handheld. According to this, it is a 7″ AMOLED screen with a brightness of 800nits. It should also be possible to achieve a resolution of 1080p with a heart rate of 120. The operating system is the Windows 11 Home OS.
What is also very important is the built-in battery, because we would like to know how long we can use it in one go. A battery size of 48.5 Wh is specified. This should provide a session time of around 1.25 hours, which of course depends on the settings and usage. A rather short session. It is not known whether Zotac will then make some adjustments for this with company updates, but it is probably safe to assume so. Zotac will launch the gaming handheld in the third quarter of 2024, without a specific date. A possible price range is also not known.
