Cognition Labs presents new AI Devin and could become a thorn in the side of software developers

Many have feared that AI would soon be competing against millions of people in their jobs or stealing their careers. Now Cognition Labs is presenting its new AI Devin, which could soon cost a number of software developers their jobs.

Cognition Labs is a company that focuses on applied AI with a focus on logical thinking. The company’s goal is to support people and turn their ideas into reality. With their wide range of investors, such as the Founders Fund, they have a lot of money at their disposal.

The company is introducing their brand new AI Devin, which will act as an AI software developer. What’s interesting is that it is said to be the best AI in the field so far. According to Cognition, the AI managed to solve 13.86% of problems on its own in a SWE benchmark on the Github platform. For this reason, the performance of the AI is said to have surpassed previous state-of-the-art models, which only achieved a value of 1.96 %. Even if the exact files to be processed were specified, the best previous models would only be able to solve 4.80 % of the problems without help.

The whole thing is still in its infancy and a percentage of 13.86% is still relatively low, but if the project is expanded further, much better figures can be achieved. But of course other companies will not be left behind with their own AIs and will probably also pull hard on the leash. Software developers may therefore have to fear that AIs will take their jobs and replace them completely. We are curious to see what the future will bring.
