Hi,
I am failing to update Gigabyte 5700 XT. The same procedure updates the BIOS on MSI cards with no problem. I follow the instructions on Igors Lab.

The sign of having trouble with the card bios flash shows in GPU-Z. After flash using amdvbflash the values of GPU and memory frequencies is empty. With stock bios there are Mhz frequencies.

Is there any known problems with flashing Gigabyte cards?
Any suggestions on what other forums I may ask for assistance?
Is it possible that the OEM bios is signed, and any modified bios will be rejected?
If the bios is signed, any tools to resign, or would I need to buy a card from a different vendor?

Thanks,

Alley Cat

Would you consider this Power Table, and Memory Straps, to be "final" for the Sapphire card? My suggestion is marked in [RED]

Under Features tab enable all the overdive features,

- Under Overdrive Limits tab, set:
GFX Maximum Clock 1400 MHz [1450]
Memory Maximum Clock 1000 MHz

- Under Power and Voltages, set:
Maximum voltage GFX 850 mv
Maximum voltage SoC 1200 mv
Minimum voltage GFX 750 mv
Minimum voltage SoC 750 mv
Power Limit GPU 150 W
TDC Limit GFX 136 A
TDC limit SoC 14 A

- Under Frequency tap, set:
GFX maximum 1400 MHz
Memory DPM 3 - 960 MHz

- Under Fan tab, set:
Fan Acoustic Limit 1380 RPM
Fan throttling 2900 RPM

For the Sapphire crad with Samsung memory, yes certainly and actually the one below is the final power table for it:

- Under Overdrive Limits tab, set:
GFX Maximum Clock 1500
Memory Maximum Clock 1000 MHz

- Under Power and Voltages, set:
Maximum voltage GFX 900 mv
Maximum voltage SoC 1200 mv
Minimum voltage GFX 750 mv
Minimum voltage SoC 750 mv
Power Limit GPU 150 W
TDC Limit GFX 138 A
TDC limit SoC 12 A

- Under Frequency tap, set:
GFX maximum 1400 MHz
Memory DPM 3 - 920 MHz

- Under Fan tab, set:
Fan Acoustic Limit 1380 RPM
Fan throttling 2900 RPM

For the memory straps is to choose the Apple Inc. one.
Perfect. Apple provided straps for both Samsung and Micron. What changes would you to finalize for bios mods to the Sapphire with Micron memory?

The same as the one with the Samsung memory except for the Memory DPM 3 as below for confirmation:

If I set the DPM 3 to 950 in the bios, can I reduce the memory clock by setting HiveOS to 940 or 945?

Or, if I set a universal bios at DPM 3 920, can I increase the memory speed to 9940 or 950 using HiveOS settings?

If DPM (Dynamic Power Management) is set to 950 MHz then all the clocks under 950 MHz are included in this management, above 950 MHz will be treated as a 950 MHz.

Thanks, How about setting the "final" DPM 3 to 910, which is a safe memory frequency for Micron and Samsung, and increase the speed in HiveOS? This will provide a "universal" bios.
Certainly, you can do that however I did not try this before setting memory clock above the dpm 3 value but I am sure it is still valid.

I will update the Sapphire bios with the "final", the board with Micron memory I will set to memory speed around 950, and the Samsung around 910. I will let it run overnight and monitor for errors, or restarts.

What about changes to the Gigabyte cards?
Can I set the Gigabyte bios with the same Apple straps and final power table? Note that the Gigabyte cards have only Micron memory.

I guess I got it wrong. A universal bios image should have the DPM 3 set to 950 for all cards.
I am going to update the steps for modifying the vbios at page 2 and make it a universal guide for all RX 5700/5700 XT cards, one for mining and a second one for all purposes, and if you do not mind I am going to give the credits to you there.

Great. Thank you very much.
So I guess we are done testing for now. I will be looking forward to see the final write up. There are so many users in multiple communities that could use a guide.

Please let me know if I could contact a few YouTubers that previously featured bios mods according to Igors Lab, and they could do a retake with these new straps and explanations.

If you like, I can help with optimizing the DDR4 RAM and CPU for best stable and safe performance to power ratio for longevity as well.
Thank you for the offer.
Please allow me a little time to stabilize my production. How about we move the discussion on CPU / MEM overclock / undeclock to a new thread?

Please, no need to thanks me, actually all the credits should go to you as you did and verified everything,

And you can share with whomever you like, let us spread the knowledge and let everyone get benefits from it.
