Hi,
I am failing to update Gigabyte 5700 XT. The same procedure updates the BIOS on MSI cards with no problem. I follow the instructions on Igors Lab.

The sign of having trouble with the card bios flash shows in GPU-Z. After flash using amdvbflash the values of GPU and memory frequencies is empty. With stock bios there are Mhz frequencies.

Is there any known problems with flashing Gigabyte cards?
Any suggestions on what other forums I may ask for assistance?
Is it possible that the OEM bios is signed, and any modified bios will be rejected?
If the bios is signed, any tools to resign, or would I need to buy a card from a different vendor?

Thanks,

Alley Cat

Good morning to you all,
@Mini_Me , I have an Asus RX 5700XT (Micron) , and tried to apply a lot of mod/OC settings from your guide (around 10 differents tries) , but without lowering the power consumption enough :(
this is my last attemp

I've attached the stock bios, do you have any tips for me ?
thanks a lot !
Greetings,

My apologies for the late reply,

Please follow the guide in the kindly attached link below,

Already solved the problem now..

Transfered the rig from server type case to open wood rig frame (DIYd by me) and no fans 2inches spacing of GPU to each other.

I downloaded the vbios from techpowerup for MSI 5700 XT MECH OC which is different from my original vbios.

Techpowerup has 1500 in VRAM timing while my orig vbios have 1550.

I modded the techpowerup bios by copying 1500 timing to all the below timings in samsung and micron memory.

Flash vbios via hiveos.

And then with this Oc in the picture.

Thank you everyone for accomodating newbies like me..

God bless you all.. Happy mining
Hey,

Good to know that you have found a workable solution. The heat dissipation will be always one of the main actors in GPU mining. Rackmount chassis generally are design for the datacenter operations rigged inside of the rack cages where the controlled temperature airflow is forced from the bottom of the cage to the top. The tight spacing of the GPUs themselves forces heated air from the adjacent GPUs backplate into the heat-sink and without proper air extrusion (industrial grade duct vent extruders) temperature will increase significantly.
From my personal experience, when using rackmount chassis (in your room, attic, etc), fans with less than 180 m³/h airflow mounted at the back and front of the chassis are simply inefficient. Of course, the noise level is substantially higher and based on design - ranging 35-60 dB each.

Regarding vBIOS:
There are four vendor bios code core versions for RX 5700XT:
017.001.000.042.000000 - initial
017.001.000.047.000000 - power choke fix, multiple iterations from various vendors
017.001.000.049.000000 - global
017.001.000.068.000000 - increase to 14Gbps memory speed
I do not have any experience with the first two. The only difference between the remaining two is that the 068 yields whooping 25-35W higher power consumption per GPU without any noticeable improvement on stability or hash rate. I am still yet to test and compare the fan control.

Regards,
Andy

I'm getting +56mh on each card with no downtime in 24 hours!
Pulling ~105W each (3 x rx 5700) and total 428W from the wall.

Asus RX 5700 (dual evo oc)

Hi,

I've been playing around with the Asus RX 5700 XT (Dual EVO OC) and I see you have done so too. Since the XT has better silicon it's possible to lower IMC voltage and it seems the micron chips on mine are pretty good too. I'm not able to get to 105watt though. While my coreclock and voltages are a lot lower. Mine run stable with MUCH lower coreclock and voltage. Still power consumption as shown in HiveOS (and at the wall) is higher than your cards.

I read somewhere here that some of you tried flashing a 5700 bios onto a 5700XT card to save on power? Did it work? Would love to bring these cards down a bit further :)

Also on a sidenote, why use such high coreclock + corevoltage? Is that a necessity because of lesser SMs? (@Mini_Me really curious what you have to say about this since I did not follow your guide completely but the settings above do run completely stable)
Edit: I guess this is the new B-mode used by TRM, values make a lot more sense to me as compared to windows + Phoenixminer.

Just a short question.

If I use the non signed bios and modded it, how do I flash it?

I have the rev2 card of the Gigabyte 5700xt Gamers OC 8G.

is it possible to rename the modded bios to name.bin and use the gigabyte flash-tool?

of is it possible to upload it vie hiveOS?

Hi,

I'm tryin to mod the GV-R57XTAORUS-8GD/F80/0AE0 but for some reason it wont take the moded bios.
how do i go about?

Thanks

Hi,
For Gigabyte aorus 5700xt any resign bios? On HiveOs oc unstable after 1380, max 53.4 mh/s.

Greetings everyone,

Now the power limit in the guide is really final and permanent, I already checked all the brands fan specification and calculated the power limit that I believe no card will face any problem anymore regarding the power limit even when using TeamRedMiner 0.8.0 mode B

My gratitude for your patience and understanding,

You may have a good day,

Best Regards.
Hi @Mini_Me!!! Thanks a lot for your constant help with us!! I ask you a couple of beginner questions... this power limits are the ones in the page 32 guide? Where do I have to set the Core State:1 and Mem State:1?? Are these values in the guide too? Because for what I have read these values in the OC profiles aren't for rx5700 cards.
Thanks in advance

Im using the same cards with adjusted BIOS (running stable with b mode for 58 hours):

Great cards but you should be able to do better I think. I'm getting 56Mhash per card right now and and 335 at the wall, see my settings:

I think 56 really is the sweetspot for these cards. Maybe I'm really lucky with these 3 that they are completely stable at these settings but I can hardly believe that. Tomorrow number 4 will arrive so I can test that....but your settings are about 10% higher that mine (except vram which is more like 5% higher). Are you using TRM 0.8?

First of all thanks for responding! Great numbers you have there!

When applying these settings I also go to these numbers (indeed via TRM 0.8); even a bit less power consumption (on the samsung card, need to check stability though):
1612301466429.png

Only thing is; almost pay 0 for electricity (due to solar power) so why not push the card a little bit more... running performance settings (1380, 770/780/1320, 945) will get me 58 over 116w power (hiveos number, not off the wall) and almost the same temp.

Hi, hope all are well. I have the Gigabyte RX5700XT Gaming OC (Rev 2.0) with Samsung memory. I downloaded the zip file and renamed it to R57XTGAMING-OC-8GD.ROM but when i open in red bios editor it only shows Micron memory in vram timings dropdown menu. I dont want to flash this bios on Samsung memory and damage the GPU. Can you please please help me with this problem. Thanks for your help

Good afternoon,
i wanted to ask if someone has Powerplay data for RX570 8GB and VRam timings for Red Bios Editor, so i can mod my 570 too.
And maybe some one can explain to me what is b mode or c mode on various miner and what benefit it bring?
Thank you!

I have a Gigabyte Aorus rev2 and I have put the M-Samsung-F80-Gigabyte-Aorus-RX57XT-v68.rom on it but the hashrate is only 51MH/s so thats close to stock....
