Hi,
I am failing to update Gigabyte 5700 XT. The same procedure updates the BIOS on MSI cards with no problem. I follow the instructions on Igors Lab.

The sign of having trouble with the card bios flash shows in GPU-Z. After flash using amdvbflash the values of GPU and memory frequencies is empty. With stock bios there are Mhz frequencies.

Is there any known problems with flashing Gigabyte cards?
Any suggestions on what other forums I may ask for assistance?
Is it possible that the OEM bios is signed, and any modified bios will be rejected?
If the bios is signed, any tools to resign, or would I need to buy a card from a different vendor?

Thanks,

Alley Cat

Hello! I was trying to flash an 5700 XT Gigabyte OC 8 Gb Rev 2.0 with the original bios + mods on RED. But it seems that the BIOS is locked / was not signed and now I'm now able to get it up again. Any suggestion? I do have a backup of the original bios (see attached) and I can say that it has Samsung chip! Thanks.

I would like to unbrick it and also bios mod it. So that I can mine better. Thanks!

Hey,
I can see from the screenshot that you are using 113-MSITV381MH.103 vBIOS which is based on 017.001.000.068.000000 core release. I wrote a short summary about it in this response. With all MECH's my choice is 113-MSITV381MH.102 as a base for modding:

Unlike few posters, whose energy cost is next to nothing, I'm constricted with high electricity prices hence differentiate from recommendations focusing on the power draw sweet spot with further TDP adjustments.

Andy
Hello Andy,

Kind regard and thank you for your help on MSI. I tried the 102 bios and was able to get close to my goal but no where near what you were able to achieve. I tried your numbers above and crashed pretty quickly. So I tested several sets of numbers and these are were I ended.

Interesting, that this is the most stable, but either one GPU0 or 1, will crash between 2 and 15 hours. Usually the GPU goes to 0 Mh and then the miner reboots. No invalids or anything like that are reported.

In the screen, GPU 0 has has 102 bios + Power settings + appl straps and timings. GPU1 has 102 bios but no other mods. I am unable to get beyond 52 Mh on GPU0.

Any chance you could share your 102 mod bios?

Thanks J

Hey J,

You are welcome. I had to split this post since responses are limited to five attachments only.
I noticed that the temperature on your GPUs is relatively high in relation to your power input.

Key to the attached vBIOS:
B049 - 017.001.000.049.000000
M1 - Memory Timing Control: 1
F0/1 - Fan control ZeroRPM (0 -OFF; 1 -ON)
AS - AppleStraps
UB - User straps iteration series B (A is useless)
RXX - release

Regards,
Andy

Hey J,

I have a test rig with "bad silicone" GPUs which were throwing "Dead GPU" in TRM. The debug log shows that they are not doing GPU recovery on DRM failure. This seems to be kernel not playing nicely.
Bad silicone:

Good silicone:

All have set:

Extra params - _TDP_TDCGFX_TDCSOC (for power sweet spot).

All production GPUs are on B049_M1_F1_AS_R21_135_115_12.rom

Regards,
Andy
