Hi,
I am failing to update Gigabyte 5700 XT. The same procedure updates the BIOS on MSI cards with no problem. I follow the instructions on Igors Lab.

The sign of having trouble with the card bios flash shows in GPU-Z. After flash using amdvbflash the values of GPU and memory frequencies is empty. With stock bios there are Mhz frequencies.

Is there any known problems with flashing Gigabyte cards?
Any suggestions on what other forums I may ask for assistance?
Is it possible that the OEM bios is signed, and any modified bios will be rejected?
If the bios is signed, any tools to resign, or would I need to buy a card from a different vendor?

Thanks,

Alley Cat

I read, but i can't find, that you recomend to change a BIOS related option for people with drop to 0 MH/s.
I have a RIG with an gamer motherboard (Asrock Steel Legend 4) and im having that problem, the drops remains some minutes and back to normal.
Same GPUs in that motherboard used on an ASUS B250 Mining Expert works perfect.

Thanks! again.

disable R6 Render Standby in the motherboard bios settings if exists

Greetings everyone,

Now the power limit in the guide is really final and permanent, I already checked all the brands fan specification and calculated the power limit that I believe no card will face any problem anymore regarding the power limit even when using TeamRedMiner 0.8.0 mode B

My gratitude for your patience and understanding,

You may have a good day,

Best Regards.

Any inquirie please feel free to message me whenever you like.
Good evening, its me again, how is goin?
I finaly build up my rig, with the two 5700xt cards, but unluckily i have only cables to power up one card on two psu's, also i have wierd riser, they have molex and 6 pin, also at the back where the usb is they have also sata, but as i know sata is not to use ( catching fire) so i connected with molex but the card got not recognized, so i put sata from psu directly to riser and card got recognized, wierd to me, but works.
Maybe some one have "how to" pro tips, how to proper power up these strange risers, i have worries about these sata.
I also wanted to ask if i may save bios from HiveOS and load it back to HiveOS, or better amdvbflash from my main pc?
There are this custom straps RAR which i downloaded from here, are these Straps for 5700XT? Can i apply them to my Asus TUF and Dual Evo?Are these the so called "Apple Straps"?

What should i change in PowerPlay? To make a good image for a modded rom?
Do you have thoughs on how what to overcklock in HiveOS?
Here is the orig rom from the Asus Dual Evo made with HiveOS

For the MSI RX 5700 MECH and MSI RX 5700 XT MECH OC,

Are you after stock unlocked rom? If yes, then with use amdvbflash to save your original rom and post here.

Simplified instructions
[Make sure that the GPU is not busy (mining, gaming) and navigate to the directory where your amdvbflash utility is]

MS WIndows in safe mode elevated command prompt as "Administrator":
amdvbflash.exe -i (identify the MSI's adpaters ID, let say identified as "0")
amdvbflash.exe -s 0 msiootb.rom (the file will be created in the same directory)
Linux using shell (bash) as "root" or uid=0,gid=0 user:
./amdvbflash.sh -i (identify the MSI's adpaters ID, let say identified as "0")
./amdvbflash.sh -s 0 msiootb.rom (the file will be created in the same directory)

For the MSI RX 5700 XT MECH OC,

The unlocked and aligned with the "to date settings" rom you can find here:

Kind regards,
Andy
Hi bro, this is my original MSI 5700 XT MECH OC vbios. Memory temperature is very high. Maybe you could help on the correct modded bios. Please 😊

It is for hiveos however I believe it will work in windows as well.

The memory temps are getting a bit high and gpus are from december so the pads cant be too old, is there anything more i can do?
I mean ok, now here in my room it is warm, the garage where the rig later will take place is pretty cold, 3 to 5° Celcius, should do it with few cooling fans

You can decrease the memory clock until the desired temperature is achieved.

Hey,
I will try to help.
Could you post your current settings, hash rate and temperature readings?
Something to bear in mind on GPU you have - Micron will run close to 90°C at 55.8 MH/s jumping to 95°C at 56.2 MH/s, 110°C at 57.1 MH/s.
I had one or two in the past sent back (RMA) for overheating - pure silicon lottery.

Andy

It seems that some manufacturers are going the cheap route on thermal pads for memory. See video: Fixing MSI's Design Flaw: Thermal Pad Swap on RX 5700 XT Evoke OC - YouTube . I don't know your brand of card, however, I would assume that even though the card is new that the manufacturer didn't cover the memory well enough with thermal pads. I'm just guessing. But there are plenty of videos on Youtube that document cooling solutions for 5700XT memory and GPU temps.

Edit: In case anyone else has high temps, I made a quick post here about it.

Good evening,
my cards are both asus, TUF and Dual Evo, for now only dual evo is runing, also i dont have any cooling fans yet and we have cold winter and in my room it is nice and warm, and with 57Mh my card reaches 95°C.
I'm pretty sure, with colling fans and in the cold garage, i will be able OC bit more to 58-60Mh at accepteble temps.

Good morning to you all,
@Mini_Me , I have an Asus RX 5700XT (Micron) , and tried to apply a lot of mod/OC settings from your guide (around 10 differents tries) , but without lowering the power consumption enough :(
this is my last attemp

Already solved the problem now..

Transfered the rig from server type case to open wood rig frame (DIYd by me) and no fans 2inches spacing of GPU to each other.

I downloaded the vbios from techpowerup for MSI 5700 XT MECH OC which is different from my original vbios.

Techpowerup has 1500 in VRAM timing while my orig vbios have 1550.

I modded the techpowerup bios by copying 1500 timing to all the below timings in samsung and micron memory.

Flash vbios via hiveos.

And then with this Oc in the picture.

Thank you everyone for accomodating newbies like me..

God bless you all.. Happy mining

By using newest TRM (B mode for 5700 xt) I was able to drop core / vcore to 1300 mhz/725 mV without any drop in hashrate. Temps also improved a little.
