I didn't do anything to it yet . and stock it does this ???:

I was hoping for closer to 30mhs ?
if i mod the bios what shoudl i do ?

Is it a 8GB card?
You need to:
- switch computing mode on
- mod the bios - same way as for 5700, just copy timings from 1500Mhz up, don't try settings from 5700 - different memory...

IIRC, by default under windows compute mode is disabled for Polaris cards.
Not sure, lately I use HiveOS/compute is auto-enabled/ or Phoenix/Claymore , where if run as admin, compute mode is also enabled
So try Phoenix, ran as admin, just to check. Then enable via Radeon Software

Also I used Red bios editor and i copied all memory .. basically timing from 1500 to all others
Like on the 5700
I then flashed the card and nothing happened
Windows didn't know the card anymore so i flashed back to stock
Its old so i was wondering if Red Bios Editors actually works for the 480 ? I have no idea
I find absolutely nothing about a 480 that isn't years old and hence little use

Now the VEGA 64 on the other hand works fine
All i do is run overdriveNtool, and amend the memory settings . I guess this cant be flashed and i have to do this every time i restart the miner . But i am not sure ., This works for me .And again for the vega64 , its old and info relevant in 2021 is hard to find
But i have it running at 950 1025 and
Copied all the values in the overdrive tool and saved . this works great
Look at the watts I can get the Vega to 44 Mhs but it takes too much watts ..this is a good middle and it stays cool

I hope i manage to add one key for one card in reg to compute .
I have not one card listed in the registry with this key
"KMD_EnableInternalLargePage"
but good i will add one key for the RX480 but all other cards dont seem to need this .

It now runs at a default 24 mhs
I guess that's normal before flashing

#Used Polaris editor now opened my stock rom edited the memory from 1500 upwards then used AMDVBFLASH version 3.04+ to flash the moded rom back, restarted pc and the gpu is disabled .
Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

All i can do now is flash back stock ..

no, now you need atikmdag-patcher latest version - run as admin, press ok, reboot - now it will work
your patched bios is unsigned, so you need this step, or will get driver error 43

i take copy of my 480 bios with amdvbflash and i edit it in polaris then update the bios then use and run atikmdag-patcher

OHH will this affect anything else ?
like i have a nvidia card in this rig and also other amd that don't need this pixel fix ? Does it affect anything else ?

Also i understand i have to do again if i ever update the driver but really no need to ...on a mining rig

should not affect other cards, but will be needed if amd drivers are updated.

well to be honest
on the 480 i gave up flashing its impossible ././
I just use overdiveNtool on the 480 and vega64 and be done with it
It does not flash at all
whatever i do edit rom with Polaris or not makes no difference
it doesn't work either
i get error 43 all the time
atipatcher doesn't do a thing either
says it patched yet still 480 is not recognised by windows anymore after i flash it .
Worse still it fucked up my index.js in my windows install
Sorry this atipatcher is a terrible piece of £$%£
i clicked on it and since then it corrupted my index.js in c:/ program files/common files index.js
Error messages now every time i start , some permission shit
Total and utter rubbish atipatcher ...it breaks more then it fixes




What's most annoying of all of this is the nonsense you get at forums and message board
all these armchair experts

Anyway i have 28.5 MB now running on the 480 running core 1140 at .085 v
memory sits at 2125 0.95 volt Iam sure i might be able to get 30 if i flashed but who cares
the vega 64 ? same thing i just use overdriventool and be done it works
only thing is every time i start i have to load all the settings in the tool
vega runs at core 995 with 0.85 v and memory 1025 at 0.85 v

weird, never had such problems with ati-patcher :O, you sure didn't get some malware disguising like it ?!
Anyway, for your card to make 28,5 its either relatively new card or its already patched somehow, iirc without BIOS these card made 23-24.
Tho my "best" 580 makes only 27-28 now (down from 30) running 1050/1950 - Hynix memory , not stable at 2000

I was confused as well how it can make 27/28 mh/s when its stock . Its on phoenix now but I really need Phoenix to dualmine Zil and load both Dags before i can use it on all my AMDS
It really makes a difference if you don't waste the time loading dag at zil interval
So for this reason I cant stay with phoenix although it gives 27/28 on my 480. This 480 I have is nice with, really happy with ti . it will mine for a few years to come i hope . 215£ )))
the vega 64 is still a monster ...40 mh/s without doing a thing to it but reduce the voltage
It runs how and Actually only 115 W ...ok add a bit for riser etc etc ./.but then again the 5700XT shows in same miner at 113W
I was worried but the wattage of the Vega but its really not bad
#I will try and muster a new cooling for the 480 and the vega
both have the 1 fan reference design from Radeon ...the only minus ...The fans are at 70% LOUD!

Well this weekend I got sick of WindowZ as well and installed HIVEOS
totally lost with all the functions but again I do know some Unix so it does run well
Few things i do not get . Like i cant dual mine . I haven't worked it out yet how to do this .
I know it meant ot make it easies not having to set your own command line but really i find it much harder . The arguments are so much easier if u can just paste them in command line . I don't see an option for the double wallet you need to configure for ZILK mining but I I I am sure i work it out . HIVEOs offers EZIL pool and they do mine Zil/ETH

here is how i had set dual eth+zil /lolminer 1.19 version/
wallet: eth wallet
pass: zil wallet@HiveEthPool@4G
Server - silver resting pool
Template - by default is the ETH wallet again, i don't touch it
User config - custom settings (this rig has 3*470*4G and 1 8GB card)
All overclocking from "overclocking tab" for the worker
Had lots of try and error attempts

OH man try and error for 48 hr i had
Basically I gave up running the Vega together with any other card I now have Phoenix miner running 2X 5700XT 1 1660ti and a RX480 8G they do well together but the vega64 I have to run another instance . I run it on teamredminer all alone and it does 40 .
I don't use the hive eth pool yet I 1st want to fill up the MIN pay-out on ethermine
I ll try their eth pool next
I have done this now .
Started a new flight sheet and followed this:

The trick seem to be the right miner and user of the wallet format ..ETH.ZIL
if the miner doesn't support this feature i guess u cant use it
but i think all where u can use this wallet format you could use to dual mine
yes its gonna be LOLminer again ..and another instance of TRM for my lonely Vega 64

I now need some help setting up openvpn . the things i find all talk about server client setup but really i have a vpn airvpn so really all i need to get going is a connection to one of their servers ..but i cant seem to be able to do it
It says make a vpn file at the config page of airvpn :

and then import it in HIveOS

But after i upload the file i get timeout error .
I must be missing something
