The processing of the SGS30
As already mentioned, PU leather is also used for the SGS30. However, this is a bit higher quality than the one of the SGS20. You can feel that immediately in a direct comparison. Sharkoon has also reached into a different shelf in terms of seating comfort when it comes to the choice of materials here. Despite higher load capacity, the foam offers softer sitting!
Another highlight are also the pillows. These are both made of memory foam and covered with microfiber. Not only does it feel more premium, it is! The back cushion fits perfectly and you sit even better than on the SGS20. If the back cushion of the SGS30 turns out to be more voluminous, it still doesn’t fall over and it feels softer!
I have to say that I would like the pillow better if it were a bit thinner or softer. I sit quite uncomfortably with the pillow of the SGS30, as I can only shape it with a lot of pressure so that I sit comfortably. If you reduce the pressure from the neck, then my head is pushed forward again uncomfortably.
However, that is the only criticism I found with the SGS30. Therefore, I have exchanged information with other testers to see if they have had similar experiences. This was not the case! Thus, although it is a personal criticism, it is not valid in general. I then changed the pillows. See for yourself:
Now I use the pillow of the other chair. What can I say, this is a perfect fit for me. Now I sit on both chairs really comfortable! Sharkoon is currently considering whether they will offer the different cushions as an after-sale option, also due to my feedback. Possibly even as an exchange option, should you really have problems. I would very much appreciate that in terms of customer satisfaction!
Conclusion
The Sharkoon SGS30 offers an even higher quality choice of materials and an even better finish. The chair also convinces in terms of improved ergonomics in general. The backrest is pronounced differently and pleasantly accommodates the feeling of sitting. Even if the seat is slightly smaller, it still fits a wide measure of customers.
Not everyone sits cross-legged and therefore does not necessarily need the seat surface that the SGS20 provides. The adjustability regarding the armrests does not differ at this point, except for the distance between the backrests. You could make it even tighter, which is already not possible with the SGS20 here.
You can load the SGS30 up to 130 kg and still sit a bit softer than on the SGS20. From my point of view really super, but that’s a matter of taste in the end! The PU leather and its workmanship, especially with regard to the accent stitching, stands out on the one hand, and on the other hand, this is even higher quality. Likewise, the rocker mechanism, which has fully convinced!
What the Sharkoon SGS30 also doesn’t offer are features like a synchro mechanism. In view of the RRP of 299 Euros, you probably cannot expect that at this point. In return, however, it offers a very good price-performance ratio with the extras already pointed out and mentioned in relation to the SGS20 – and also other chairs in the price range.
Which is why this chair also deserves the price-performance award. Please understand me correctly here, this in no way diminishes, the purchase recommendation awarded by me for the SGS20. Nevertheless, for “only” 80 euros more, you get an even better chair. The SGS30 is – in terms of features and workmanship – much closer to the even more expensive SGS40 and not too far away from the SGS20 in terms of price.
Also other, mostly even more expensive, partly also already presented here chairs – offer not much more or even less!
