In today’s Sharkoon roundup, we take a compact look at three of the manufacturer’s current keyboard models, which are aimed in particular at price-conscious users with high demands. The focus here is on functionality, customizability and workmanship – from the fully transparent Crystal Shark to the feature-rich SKILLER SGK25 and the modular barebone version of the SKILLER SGK50 S3.
Introduction and unboxing: Sharkoon Crystal Shark
The front of the packaging has a functional layout that directly communicates the key product features. High-resolution product images and well-placed lettering give a detailed impression of the keyboard’s appearance and technical features even before the box is opened. The Sharkoon Crystal Shark is a compact tenkeyless gaming keyboard with full hot-swap support and a transparent housing that has been specially designed for users with high demands on appearance and customizability.
The connection to the system can be either wired via USB or wireless in the 2.4 GHz band, allowing the keyboard to be flexibly integrated into a wide variety of setups. The transparent keycaps are made of polycarbonate and enable uniform illumination thanks to the integrated RGB lighting, which is particularly effective in this way. Pre-assembled linear KTT switches with a transparent housing structure are used, which are characterized in particular by uniform key feedback without a noticeable pressure point – a switching behavior that is particularly preferred in the gaming sector.
A special feature of the Crystal Shark is the magnetically fixed upper housing cover which, in conjunction with the hot-swappable base, enables the switches to be replaced quickly and without tools. This means that both the typing feel and the acoustic characteristics of the keyboard can be easily adapted to personal preferences. This modular design is complemented by a high-quality positioning plate made of solid, white-painted metal – presumably aluminum. This component not only provides additional structural stability, but also underlines the high-quality overall impression of the keyboard.
The back of the packaging also offers a structured and multilingual overview of all relevant product specifications. The clear presentation of technical features and functional characteristics makes it easier for interested parties to get a clear picture of the keyboard’s scope of performance before unpacking.
