nVIDIA has just provided updated details on the embargo for the upcoming GeForce RTX 4070 non-Ti model. While the company has not officially given an exact date, it has already informed its board partners that the launch will be in April. All embargo information is currently TBD (to be determined), but the "on-shelf" launch, also known as the "hard launch," is scheduled to take place in April, with no specific date given.
Information about NVIDIA embargoes is published regularly, but may change. There have been many embargoes that have been completely changed, postponed or even cancelled. This means that a lot can still change, so always keep this in mind. The GeForce RTX 4070 has received numerous mentions in the last few months. The PG191 SKU 343 was mentioned last month by hardware leaker kopite7kimi as the new SKU for the RTX 4070. However, it was listed alongside SKUs 344 and 345, which are not covered by this embargo.
It is not yet known exactly why this is the case, but it has been rumored that there could be two GPU variants for the RTX 4070 (AD104-250 and 251), so a board change could be required for each SKU. The RTX 4070 is expected to feature 5888 CUDA cores and 12 GB of GDDR6X memory. This model should basically be a slimmed-down RTX 4070 Ti with a lower TDP (200W). Earlier plans have indicated that NVIDIA plans to begin mass production of the chips this month, so April appears to be within the typical launch schedule.
