Steelseries Arctis Prime Review – Simple headset without frills

Optics, haptics and wearing comfort

As already mentioned at the beginning, the headset is kept very simple, the optical extravagance is completely omitted in the Prime series. Only on the headband a piece of faux leather with the brand name was sewn on.

The left ear cup then houses the connections, microphone, volume wheel and mute button. By the way, the aux port is for looping the audio signal through, the headset itself can only be operated via the small, almost USB looking port.

If you want it even plainer, you can remove the two plates with Steelseries logo on the ear cups. They are only held magnetically, but do not fall off by themselves during normal use.

Comfort

The headset is constructed in such a way that it rests on top of the head with the white fabric band and the bow made of slightly flexible aluminium provides the necessary stability. In reality, the whole thing works very well, even when worn for long periods of time, the Arctis Prime never became uncomfortable. Despite the sealing padding with faux leather covering, my ears did not get noticeably warm or sweaty.

The desired fit can be easily achieved via the fabric strap, which is held in place with Velcro. Both the volume wheel and the mute button are easy to reach. Depending on how you normally put on your own headset, you may also come across the button unintentionally at first. The integrated microphone arm seemed a little short to me at first, but as you’ll hear in a moment, it still picks up everything reliably.

Finde ich auch ein wenig komisch, dass man sich dafür entschieden hat.
Mir fällt kein wirklich sinnvoller Grund ein
