The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 Wireless is a versatile mid-range gaming headset currently priced at around 120 euros, which impresses above all with its extensive software support and acceptable sound quality. It offers a decent battery life of up to 60 hours, making it a solid choice for long gaming sessions. The audio quality of the headset is mixed, but not bad per se. The ability to customize numerous audio settings and profiles via the accompanying app may not be important for everyone, but it’s a nice touch. And as it happens, I’ve been using the Arctic Nov5 myself for a few weeks, not only to publish my first impressions and measurements, but also my own user report.
Headsets are a dime a dozen and 120 euros is not cheap these days, but it’s not extremely expensive either. However, you should be able to expect solid performance from 100 euros. This is exactly where today’s test comes in, although it is not entirely free of criticism. But more on that later, for now let’s unpack everything!
Scope of delivery
The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 Wireless Headset comes with the headset itself, a USB-C dongle, a USB-A to USB-C adapter cable, a USB-C charging cable and the necessary documents. However, a QR code or instructions for the SteelSeries Sonar app are not included, which is surprising as this app is an important function for audio customization of the headset. But more on that in a moment.
Technical data and manual
And how does the manufacturer see it? The SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 Wireless weighs around 263.2 grams, which should make it a light and comfortable device for long gaming sessions. The headset has 40 mm neodymium drivers, which should provide clear highs, precise mids and deep bass. For microphone performance, the Arctis Nova 5 relies on a bi-directional ClearCast 2.X microphone with noise suppression, which should enable clear voice transmission. It also offers a remarkable battery life of up to 60 hours and supports fast charging via USB-C.
The headset supports both 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity and Bluetooth 5.3, allowing for versatility across multiple platforms, including PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, Mac, and mobile devices. If that’s not enough for you, I have the data sheet…
… and of course the manual, which saves me a lot of redundant text:
