Optics and haptics
The Fortis 5 is again visually simple, at least in this version. If the black-silver exterior is too boring for you, you can go for the version with ARGB fan and illuminated cover.
I for my part find the normal version but also quite respectable.
However, all variants of this cooler have a slightly asymmetrical, “leaning to the side” heat sink in common. This allows some free space for the PCIe slots on the mainboard.
The two fans are also asymmetrical, namely a Fluctus 140 is provided for the front and a Fluctus 120 for the rear. I’ll test whether this push/pull configuration in the package sold as the Fortis 5 Dual is worth the higher price on the very next page.
Visually, the cooler should be able to fit well into pretty much any system, just an advantage of the simple design. The 6 heatpipes were pressed together for a direct-touch contact area, so there is no conventional coldplate on the Fortis 5.
Another interesting side note: SilentiumPC advertises quite prominently that the cooler was created in collaboration with Synergy Cooling. However, the imprint of SilentiumPC (COOLING.PL) and Synergy Cooling indicates that they share an address.
So I guess this is just another company on paper, not a joint venture in the traditional sense. Apart from that, the workmanship of the cooler is good and appropriate for the price. So you don’t have to worry about your fingers, although I wouldn’t put it past them either because of the serrated slats.
